The comfort levels with Drupal among developers ranges greatly and that's because there has never been a set model to follow until now. I will discuss the main barrier for entry that most Drupal developers struggle with, and outline a tried and tested learning model that anyone can follow that will turn any average developer into an above average Drupal guru.
